Instructions for Moving to a Personal Account
- Submit a Cell Phone Work Order to Telecommunications stating the user's desire to move to a personal account.
Please note: If currently utilizing NotifyLink to receive email, the work order needs to state whether the end user wishes to keep NotifyLink or have the service removed.
- Telecommunications contacts the appropriate vendor. The vendor places a note on the account that the number can be released for a personal account. Telecommunications notifies the department's service request coordinator once this is completed.
- The end user can proceed with moving their number. Below are the instructions for each vendor:
- AT&T – The user can visit a store or call 800.999.5445, option 5. If the vendor is unable to locate the note on the account, have the vendor conference in Telecommunications (979.845.1020) for assistance.
- Verizon – The user can contact Brittanie Jordan at 979.219.6603 or Brittanie.Jordan@verizonwireless.com. They will need to fill out the attached form and send it to Brittanie.
- Sprint – The user can contact Lara Aguilar-Williams at 512.297.1788 or lara.m.aguilar-williams@sprint.com.
- T-Mobile – The user can call 866.464.8662 to transfer their service to a personal account.
- Important: Once the user has taken responsibility for the service, the user needs to contact Telecommunications to let us know we can stop the billing in our database.
- Telecommunications closes out the order in our database. Charges could appear over the next one or two months (longer if user has recently traveled overseas). Vendors bill 30 days after the month of service, and then there could be a prorated month from when a service is disconnected.
