NotifyLink FAQ
How does NotifyLink work?
NotifyLink gives customers access to departmental email and personal information manager (PIM), such as calendar, contacts, and tasks. NotifyLink is a separate application that is installed on a mobile device, allowing it to communicate with the NotifyLink server (operated by Telecommunications). Your departmental email and PIM are obtained and temporarily stored on the NotifyLink server prior to retrieval by the mobile device.
What makes NotifyLink different from other similar applications?
NotifyLink provides compatibly with a wide range of email providers and devices. Similar applications such as Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Novell GroupWise Mobile, and Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) each support a portion of the entire field of mobile devices and can only be used with a specific type of email server.
What advantage does a department have in using NotifyLink?
By choosing NotifyLink, a department only needs a single service to support all devices used by their employees, saving valuable IT resources. For example, a department may already have installed Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, but they may also have to purchase BlackBerry support for some of their users. No additional purchase of hardware or software would be necessary with NotifyLink.
How much does NotifyLink cost?
$16.54/month per device. This includes 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. service and support.
Are any additional service plan options needed to use NotifyLink?
Before requesting NotifyLink, make sure your mobile service plan has data service activated. Because NotifyLink data usage can vary based on user email activity, Telecommunications recommends the service plan include Unlimited Data Plan (approximately $40-$50 per month in addition to cell phone minutes).
Who can use NotifyLink?
Any Texas A&M University System component can request NotifyLink from Telecommunications. Any individual who has a departmental phone or has a phone that is covered under a stipend by the A&M System can request NotifyLink.
What email providers are supported by NotifyLink?
The following email providers are currently supported: Microsoft Exchange, Novell GroupWise, Sun Java Enterprise, CommuniGate Pro, Kerio, MDaemon, Mirapoint Message Server, Oracle Collaboration Suite, and Zimbra Collaboration Suite.
